Grief as Renowned South African DJ Killed in the Heart of Johannesburg.
A renowned South African media personality and entertainer has been shot dead in the nation's economic hub Johannesburg, causing national outrage across a nation struggling with entrenched crime.
Warrick Stock, popularly known as DJ Warras, was shot and killed in the city centre on Tuesday afternoon.
Officials stated the forty-year-old entertainer was confronted by three individuals, with one began shooting at him before fleeing on foot.
The motive of the incident is unknown and no suspects have been apprehended are in custody, according to authorities.
How It Happened
Law enforcement revealed that Stock was attacked as he was leaving a building close to the city center landmark.
He had been present for hours at the building supervising the installation of security systems, which had been reportedly taken over by unidentified individuals, it was reported.
"It is alleged the man was approached by three unidentified men after he parked his car, and they shot at him before escaping on foot," a police statement confirmed.
Security camera video reportedly depicted a suspect with dreadlocked hair and clad in what looked like a guard's attire firing shots on Stock before running away.
The DJ sought to escape after he was shot but collapsed across the street.
It was further revealed that Stock had an unused firearm and it was not a robbery during the incident.
Key evidence, like cartridges, were found at the crime scene.

Authorities have requested eyewitnesses who may have have information to contact them.
"Our information indicates they covered significant ground after the shooting, and police have been attempting to locate them to determine their whereabouts," added an official.

His sister, Nicole Stock, stated the family was struggling to understand the tragedy.
"I am devastated. I don't have words," she stated.
"We know he was a champion for numerous individuals. He addressed issues courageously about topics not many people were willing to discuss. This is a devastating blow."
She requested the citizens to not sharing explicit content from the incident, explaining this was an extremely painful time, above all for Stock's young family.
